A Church of the Lutheran Confession occurs as conservative Christian religious body theologically adhering to confessional Lutheran doctrine. Based withwitharound 1960 in Minnesota, it has more or less 75 congregations in Two dozen U.S. states, & missions inside Canada, India, and Africa.
A CLC maintains its headquarters at its ministerial college; Immanuel Lutheran High School, College & Seminary in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Historical Background
A Church of a Lutheran Confession (CLC) was formed as much as the instance of the break-higher of the Evangelical Lutheran Synodical Conference of North America in 1963 (see too Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and Evangelical Lutheran Synod).
A CLC was created primarily (though non only) from either churches that broke out of a Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) and Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS) above a disagreement over the application of the lesson of Christian fellowship (in this context, an agreement of the unity of belief). A CLC maintains that a WELS & ELS misapplied people lesson by non breaking by using a Synodical Conference & a Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod after they experienced publicly recognized doctrinal disagreements.
When there develop been recent joint talks (1990's) between the CLC, WELS & ELS to resolve this issue, a talks were unable to came to a guide. Intrinsically, a CLC, Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and Evangelical Lutheran Synod remain at odds on this issue.
Beliefs and Practice
Core Beliefs
A CLC teaches that a Bible is the sole authoritative source for ism. It take a Lutheran Confessions (the Book of Concord, 1850) as an accurate presentation of what Scripture teaches. These are strongly linked to the construct of sola scriptura -- scripture alone, and its site states, "That which is not scriptural is not Lutheran."
Ecumenical Relations
Fellowship between a CLC & more church groups is established single upon investigation & confirmation that each church groups hang on to complete unity around scriptural philosophy & practice.
